Abstract Edge

A degree in Zoology (with a career teaching Biology in Bristol then Mathematics in Shrewsbury) was an unlikely start but illness prompted a change of direction to a Fine Art degree in Painting from Wolverhampton University in 2000.

In 2006, with five other artists I set up and helped run the Sandford Gallery in Church Stretton, Shropshire until its closure in 2012.

My work is landscape based using many earth pigments, trying to capture a sense of fragility and tension in a surface structure where pigments are dispersed, trapped, built up and scraped away.
